Has Teen Vogue Lost Its Mind?!?

This blog contains information on a topic that is sexual in nature. Some may find the topic offensive in nature……

Many adults do not pay attention to what their children are reading today, especially if they are between the Tween age to 18. You may want to start today though! Teen Vogue has released an article in their July issue written by Gigi Engle on July 7, 2017 that has caused quite a bit of controversy amongst parents.

Who is Gigi Engle?!

Gigi Engle is a Writer, “Sexpert”, and Feminist according to her website. She is the former senior sex and lifestyle writer for Elite Daily, and her work has also appeared in other magazines such as Allure, Elle Magazine, Glamour, Cosmo, Marie Claire, Men’s Journal, Ravishly, and Bustle; all while maintaining a weekly advice column with Hinge  titled “Ask Gigi”. She also has other various experience listed on her LinkedIn Profile.  She also has a Facebook Page, Twitter, and Instagram that displays more of her work.

Engle has written numerous articles (16 to be exact) for Teen Vogue dealing with everything from Masturbation, discussing Sexual Identity, and being “horny” to topics of Rape, BDSM (Bondage & Discipline / Domination & Submission / Sadism & Masochism, and Queer Sex.

The article that has seemed to gain the most attention lately is her article discussing Anal Sex. In this article subtitled “How to do it the RIGHT way”, Engel basically gives step by step instructions to teens with pictures to guide them through how to have anal sex.

She tries to justify her article by stating things like “People have been having anal sex since the dawn of humanity”, and telling teenagers that it “is a perfectly natural way to engage in sexual activity”. She does however, go on to say that not everyone enjoys having anal sex though, and to do what you feel comfortable with. She even goes as far as to make light of fecal matter by giving her personal assurance that you won’t poop on anyone, and stating “It’s NOT a big deal. Everyone poops. Everyone has a butt”.

What I did notice about the article was she DID NOT tell her young readers about the dangers of anal sex. According to WebMD there are numerous health risks, and anal sex is the riskiest of all other sexual activities. She DID NOT warn them of what happens when the anus tears during anal sex and how you are more receptive to sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, and Cancer. Why didn’t she let her young readers know that the anus was built for holding feces which contains bacteria that can cause Urinary Tract Infections for young women or cause weakening of the anal sphincter, making it difficult to hold in feces; and rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, anal fissures for the person on the receiving end?

I mean really?!? She calls herself an educator, but she sounds more like a person who is just into freaky sex who wants to promote debauchery and mediocrity amongst our already confused youth to me. If she truly wanted to educate she would have explained the dangers of anal sex, not just paint it out as a fun carnival ride.

Studies found that one-third of U.S. men and women had experienced heterosexual anal sex and Adolescents are also practicing heterosexual anal sex; and again, the prevalence increases with age. Only 5% of females ages 16-17 reported receptive anal intercourse over the past year, while 18% of females aged 18-19 years reported the same activity.

She also FAILED to let her readers know about the psychological effects on women when it comes to anal sex. In fact, the Medical Institute for Sexual Health reported “A small Guttmacher Institute study (28 women) from 2009 reports that 25% of the women interviewed had been forced into having anal intercourse at least once. It goes on to say, “Coercion and violence notwithstanding, many participants reported pain and discomfort, including emotional distress, during anal intercourse.” 5 Furthermore, a qualitative study from the United Kingdom concludes, “Young people’s narratives normalized coercive, painful and unsafe anal heterosex. This study suggests an urgent need for harm reduction efforts targeting anal sex to help encourage discussion about mutuality and consent, reduce risky and painful techniques and challenge views that normalize coercion.” It is the woman who is being coerced and feels the pain” in August of 2016.

But she DID NOT let her teenage readers know that information, now did she!

This article is more than disturbing to say the least. Our youth are already confused about sexuality in this day an age. It has become more of a fad to be homosexual and bisexual for our kids these days, regardless of your stance on the topic. We have men becoming women and vice versa, arguments and lawsuits over what bathroom to use, what clothes are appropriate for the sexes, people refusing to put their child’s sex on the birth certificate until the child can decide for themselves when they are older, and even people decided to permanently change their race!

My goodness what is next? I fear for the future of our country! I fear for the youth around the world! This is getting ridiculous!

Parents, we have got to start watching what our children have access to! This is basically our fault for letting our guard down and letting mediocrity take over! We have gotten lazy as parents, and we have gotten lazy as Conservatives! This isn’t necessarily just a religious battle for those who follow the Bible; it’s a common sense battle! These people like Gigi Engle are only able to print this type of stuff because we have allowed mediocrity take over.

I want you to read this interview on Gigi Engle entitled “Boss Babes: Gigi Engle” written by Lauren Harbury in August of 2016. You may find what she has to say interesting. I as a parent, found it to be rather disgusting myself! It tells you a little bit about her upbringing, relationships, and her over all view on sex in her own words. Is this really someone you want teaching or influencing your children?!?

Do I believe Teens should be educated on sex? YES! In this awkward era PARENTS need to be sitting their children down and discussing these issues! They shouldn’t leave it up to someone else! It may be a tough topic, but would you rather have people like Gigi Engle doing it for you?

Let’s face it folks!
Parents don’t teach their children anymore! Parents don’t regulate with a tight reign anymore! Social Media, magazines, entertainers, nutty professors, and the blind leading the blind is the biggest influence on our youth in the world today.

Isn’t it time we bring morals back? Isn’t it time we bring the Family Unit back?
Isn’t it time we go back to basics?
If not now, then when……

  1. Redefining sex based on presence or absence of a PROSTATE?? If I have mine remove due to prostate cancer, do I have to change the bathroom I go in??

  2. Unbelievable. Are there no adults in charge at Teen Vogue? This is so stupid it defies comprehension, but that is probably too big a word for the editors. They apparently don’t understand the vernacular for anal either.
